Ladies Gretel Skirt Sewing Pattern PDF
This skirt is a retro flared A-line style, which fits from waist and is looser over the hips. It has a panel front and back which has been purposely designed so a fat half-metre (width 150cm+) or fat half adult panel (width 74cm) will fit either the panel front (or the panel back) for all the sizes and length options. That means you only need to use one metre (or yard if 150cm+ wide) of your lovely hoarded fabrics on both the front and back of the skirt. All you need to decide on is a co-ordinate for the pockets and the sides!
Optional pockets – which are ideal scrap busters and can also be used for smaller panels.
3 waistband options -narrow, wide and foldover.
3 lengths – Petite – 5’1 (155cm) / Average – 5’6 (167cm) / Tall – 5’11 (180cm)
*The skirt length is approximated on making a just below the knee (skimming the lower kneecap) for the above sizes. If you’d like a longer skirt then why not try the tall option. Want shorter, try the petite.
Waist range 24” – 49.5” (61cm – 125.6cm)
Full hip (widest part) range 34.5” – 59.5” (87.7cm – 151.1cm)
It is a fairly quick sew and is suitable for all abilities.
You will need either a sewing machine with a stretch stitch or an overlocker.
Suitable for 4 way stretch fabrics with a 50%+ each way.
Testers also experimented successfully with a mix of woven and 2 way stretch fabrics with the 4 way stretch fabrics.
